2009 Beekeeper of the Year

Yvonne Crimbring Named PSBA “Beekeeper of the Year”

Yvonne Crimbring was presented the “2009 Beekeeper of the Year” award at the PSBA Annual Meeting held at the Country Cupboard, Friday evening, November 13. Yvonne first joined the PSBA in 1971 when she was elected to fill the position of newsletter editor, replacing her father in law, Robert Crimbring who was retiring. Yvonne has been a continuous member since that time. She assumed the position of secretary/treasurer for the Pennsylvania State Beekeepers Association in 1974 and has held that position for 35 years.

Yvonne has been a dedicated, thoughtful and a pleasurable secretary/treasurer that has kept the PSBA intact through many administration changes. Her effort in teaching, advising, and working with incoming officers has been a huge asset to the association.

Her contributions go well beyond the realm of what any secretary/treasurer accomplishes. Yvonne can be seen signing in members attending the state fall convention, helping with arrangements at the summer picnics, and many other activities.

Yvonne also has fully supported her husband, Glenn, as he has been a Pennsylvania state bee inspector for the past 14 years. Supporting her husband in his contributions to the state bee industry on so many levels should not be overlooked.

Few beekeepers if any, have shown the longevity, dedication, contributions, or effort that Yvonne has shown to the Pennsylvania State Beekeepers Association. It is with great appreciation from the many beekeepers who have been touched in so many ways that Yvonne was nominated and received the “Beekeeper of the Year” award for 2009.
